Master KAWARA Kiyoshi (Kanazawa, Japan) will be in Brussels on May 17-18 and 24-25, 2024 to offer introductory courses in Kotsuzumi (French/Japanese).

The Kotsuzumi (shoulder drum) is one of the four instruments used for musical accompaniment in Nō theater. The particularity of this instrument is the possibility of modifying the pitch of the sound by adjusting the tension of the skin during playing. The Tsuzumi player punctuates the Nō songs with the drum and rhythmic shouts (Kakegoe).

It is a practice that explores the void and the interval between sounds. This course is aimed at anyone interested in Japanese music and culture. There are no prerequisites and everyone is welcome.

To participate, two options are available to you: book an individual lesson (via Doodle) or join a group class.
